Well I’m too good at making excuses for why things don’t get done
Not enough cash, or energy, or hours from sun to sun
I guess I’m not that adventurous--and I don’t feel all that strong
Sometimes it scares me to try something new...I’m pretty sure I’ll just get it wrong
I wish that things could be different--but it’s out of my control
This is the lie I tell myself, as piece by piece I give away my soul

They say the rain falls down on both the unjust and the fair
That slow and steady wins the race between the tortoise and the hare
I’m not obsessed with winning; with coming out ahead
I just don’t want to live my life as if I were already dead
